Skin Care Secrets Revealed: Natural Acne Treatment the Aromantic way

acne treatmentBy Kolbjorn Borseth

Acne occurs primarily in puberty but can also occur up to middle age. Acne is caused by the increased production of sebum and the resulting blocking of pores by sebum and dead skin cells. The result is that spots or boils can occur not only on the face but also on the chest, back or upper arms. In this article I will explain how you can treat your acne through natural treatments and a balancing of your lifestyle and diet.

Factors affecting Acne and Ways to Treat it

  • Don't squeeze spots
  • Don't use massage on acne
  • Avoid oily creams in acne treatment, especially those with Saturated Fatty Acids like shea butter, cocoa butter and macadamia nut oil.
  • Watch your diet - fasts and vegetarian diets are cleansing and may be worth considering acne treatment. Avoid chocolate, cheese, nuts, pork, cream, spices, citrus fruits, coffee, tea, juices, soft drinks, chips/crisps, tomatoes, seafood and dairy products.
  • Take vitamin and mineral supplements to aid acne treatment.
  • Get plenty of rest, relaxation, fresh air and exercise.

Acne Treatment using mainly Tea Tree Oil Products

NB Always add a few drops of Lavender Essential Oil when using Tea Tree Essential Oil or Tea Tree products as they have a synergistic effect.

Morning & Evening:

  1. Wash the face with Tea Tree Soap or just water (cold or hot).
  2. Cleanse the skin by washing it with 5-7 drops of Tea Tree Essential Oil added to 200ml water; or use the Acne Skin Toner (see Recipe below).
  3. Brush spots gently with undiluted Tea Tree Essential Oil on a Q-tip (ear bud).
  4. Apply a Tea Tree Cream or an Acne Everyday Oil Blend (see Recipes below).

Several times per day:

Drink lots of warm water and diuretic herb teas.
Wash your hands regularly and touch your face or acne-prone areas of your body as little as possible. This is to keep bacteria away from the acne.

1 - 3 times per week:

  1. Add 5-10 drops of Tea Tree Essential Oil to your Base Foam Bath.
  2. Add 5-6 drops of Tea Tree Essential Oil to a facial steam bath.
  3. Make and apply a Face Mask containing Tea Tree Essential Oil.

Acne and Diet

If your body chemistry is too acid you must eat more alkaline foods to assist acne treatment.

Balancing your diet - Acid/Alkaline

When food is metabolised by the body the end products are either acidic or alkaline. Acids are compounds of elements, which give away hydrogen ions, alkalines are compounds of elements which attract hydrogen ions. The body needs both acids and alkalines for its metabolism but we have more difficulty getting rid of acids than alkalines. It is therefore easy for an accumulation of excess acids to occur which can cause us to get rheumatism or skin problems such as psoriasis. To avoid this, aim for a diet which is 70% alkaline and 30% acid. One of the simplest ways to immediately create more alkalinity in your body is to drink so-called superfood powdered drinks. Choose a brand that contains ingredients with high alkaline values such as spinach, broccoli, carrot, wheatgrass, barley grass, chlorella, alfalfa and sprouted grain powders.

To achieve a more alkaline diet you can consider replacing the following items in your diet:

Acid

Alkaline

Bread – all grains except buckwheat Sprouted grain bread or buckwheat bread
Grain-based pasta except buckwheat Buckwheat-based pasta
Chocolate and cocoa drinks Carob-based drinks
Tea, Coffee, Barley Cup Herbal Teas
Rice or Oats Porridge Millet or Buckwheat porridge
Meat and fish protein Soya products e.g. Soya Beans, Firm Tofu, Textured Vegetable Protein (TVP)
Tempeh, Silken Tofu Firm Tofu
Peanuts Hazelnuts, Almonds
Eggs Egg Replacer (Soya-based)
