What is it?

Flowers from China. The scent of gardenia's large white flowers is often likened so much to jasmine that one of its common names is cape jasmine. Gardenia Absolute contains a fresh, green, sweet quality that makes it different from the more narcotic floral notes. Gardenia Absolute is a very complex aroma that is sweet and earthy whilst at the same time wafts past you with a green breeze. It is one of the most precious oils in the world, well known for its unique fragrance. It originates in Asia and has been cultivated in China for more than a thousand years. It is said to have been first introduced to the West from the Cape colony in South Africa in the 1800s; in fact one of its common names is cape jasmine because at the time people erroneously believed the flower originated in the Cape of Good Hope, South Africa.

Known as zhi zhi, gardenia flower petals are used in Chinese herbal medicine for their antiseptic and calming properties, for treating infections, insomnia and depression. The oil also has the same therapeutic properties: it is antiseptic and anti inflammatory for throat conditions but so are many other oils that are cheaper.

Skin Care

It works well as a signature fragrance on its own for top of the range perfumes e.g. pulse point perfumes, serums, creams and face oils. Pulse point perfumes are usually sold in mini roller ball containers, making them easy to apply to pulse points such as inside the wrist, behind the ears, at the temples, behind the knees, the back of the neck, the cleavage area, between the toes, ankles, and thighs. To make a pulse point perfume, blend 2ml of the absolute with 8ml alcohol or vegetable oil and put in a 10ml glass mini roll-on ball bottles (ref: 9403) - perfect for sales, a luxury gift or for your own handbag! Our suggestion is keep Gardenia Absolute to yourself or your loved one and envelope yourself in a fragrant cloud all day!

Blends well with: Cinnamon leaf, Clove bud, Jasmine, Lemon, Lime, Neroli, Rose otto, Sweet Orange, Tuberose, Ylang Ylang.
