Product Description

Red Raspberry Seed Oil is a luxurious, fast-absorbing carrier oil, cold-pressed from raspberry seeds, a by-product of the juicing industry. This sustainable process turns waste into a skin-loving ingredient rich in nourishing lipids. Light texture and dry skin feel, absorbs quickly without leaving a residue, suitable for all skin types, especially dry, mature, and blemish-prone skin. Rich in omega-3 and 6 fatty acids, this oil is an emollient that moisturises and softens the skin. Also rich in antioxidant compounds that fight free radicals, reduce inflammation, and protect the skin from environmental stressors. Known to support a calm, even complexion and reduce redness. Red Raspberry Seed Oil conditions the skin and improves skin texture, great in facial oils, creams, and serums. Raspberry seed oil may reduce water loss, soothe inflammation, and support the skin barrier and overall skin health.

While red raspberry seed oil provides some UV protection by absorbing certain UV rays, it is not a substitute on it's own for sunscreen and does not protect against all UVA rays, which are linked to skin cancer. Applying raspberry seed oil before sunscreen can add moisture and hydration to the skin, but it should always be used in combination with a broad-spectrum sunscreen for effective protection.

UV rays are a form of UV radiation emitted by the sun, including UVA, UVB, and UVC rays. Raspberry seed oil may protect against some UVB and UVC rays, but its effectiveness against UVA rays is limited in studies so it cannot fully protect the skin from sun damage or reduce the risk of skin cancer.

Our current stock is refined, neutral aroma and pale yellow colour, ideal for custom formulations. Tocopherol (Vitamin E) is diluted in Sunflower Seed Oil to ensure portability. In the ratio of 0.35% Tocopherol with 0.15% Sunflower Oil.

How to use it

Skin Care

• Red Raspberry Seed Oil is excellent for sensitive skin and is deeply nourishing and conditioning. It can be blended with Shea Butter Oil or Jojoba Oil.
  
  
• It is also used in sunscreen products due to its UV-absorbing properties. Some studies showed it could have a natural sun protection factor, perhaps as high as between 28 and 50. Be aware that making SPF claims on such a product requires rigorous testing to substantiate any claims you make.
  
  
• As Red Raspberry Seed Oil is an emollient, it is excellent for softening the skin. It improves the suppleness of all skin types. Its very dry skin feel means that it can be blended with heavier, fattier oils like Shea Butter and still feel elegant on the skin.

Hair Care

• Red Raspberry Seed Oil keeps hair moisturised and can help improve hair growth.

Other

• Use 1% to 100% although when used neat, it can feel tight on the skin

• In face creams and lotions use 2% to 10%

• In sun creams and lotions use 5% to 20%

• In creams use up to 5%

• Oil soluble so cannot be used in water only products. It can be used in small amounts in water based gels that will hold it in suspension.

• Not heat stable so should be used in Stage 3 (cool stage) when making creams and lotions.
• Red Raspberry Seed Oil can be blended with Jojoba Oil, Sesame Oil, Rice Bran Oil and EcoSilk and then combined with microfine Titanium Dioxide or Tiosol for use in sunscreen products.
• For sensitive skin products blend it with Apricot Kernel Oil, Kiwi Seed Oil, Chia Seed Oil, Blueberry Seed Oil and Rosehip Seed Oil.
