Oriental Exfoliating Body Scrub

image of oriental exfoliating body scrub being use during a massage

A velvety soft gel with a bamboo exfoliant. Gentle enough to use on the face when used lightly, strong enough to use on the body with more pressure. Rinses clean away leaving the skin so soft.
Stage 1: (above 75°C)
78% Cold Spring Water
10 % Rice Starch

Stage 2: (below 40°C)
5% Rice Bran Oil
5% Bamboo Exfoliant
1% Preservative Eco
1% Petitgrain Essential Oil
100% Total

Method:
  • Weigh all Stage 1 materials into a stainless steel bowl and place into a saucepan of boiling water (double boiler/bain marie). Bring up to a temperature of over 70°C whilst stirring continuously. This is important to stop it from going lumpy.
  • Put the Stage 2 materials into a separate stainless steel bowl. When the Stage 1 has hydrated and formed a thick gel remove the bowl from the double boiler and put into a pan of cold water to cool it down quickly. Keep stirring all the time.
  • When the gel is under 40°C add the combined Stage 2 ingredients. Stir thoroughly, jar and label.

Can I use preservative 12 in this rather than preservative eco?

“The Oriental Exfoliating Body Scrub has water in it to make the Rice Starch Gel. That is why it has to have the preservative in it. With the preservative, the shelf life will be 12 months.”

What would the shelf life of this product be if I was careful to avoid contaminating the jar with water?

How do I convert this into grams? If I wish to make it. As I know all recipes need to meet 100% always.
If I want to make 200g or ml of product how will I know how much oh each product to apply? Will this be found on your online course that I am thinking of attending?
