Baby Soft Skin Cream Recipe

A delicate, soothing cream suitable for all skin types and babies. Leaves the skin feeling baby soft.

 

Stage 1: (above 75°C)

7% White Poppy Seed Oil

5% Watermelon Seed Oil

5% Olivem® 1000

 

Stage 2: (above 75°C)

61% Boiling Spring Water

15% Boiling Chamomile Hydrolat

3.3% Glycerin

0.2% Xanthan Gum, Opaque

 

Stage 3: (below 40°C)

2% D-Panthenol

1% Preservative 12

0.5% Essential oils suitable for babies (we used Red Mandarin & Lavender)

Method:

  • Melt stage 1 ingredients together in a double boiler and heat to 75°C or above
  • Make a slurry with the Glycerin and Xanthan Gum. Place a beaker in a bain-marie and pour on boiling bottled spring water. Stir together then stick blend to form smooth thickened water.
  • When Stages 1 & 2 are at approximately the same temperature, pour Stage 1 into Stage 2 and stir together.
  • While the mixture is still in the bain-marie stick blend for 30 seconds, leave for 1 minute then stick blend for another 30 seconds.
  • Remove the beaker from the bain-marie and put into a pan of cold water. Stir with a spatula until the emulsion reaches 40°C or below
  • Add Stage 3 and stir in well, jar and label.

pH 5-6

This is a super soft and light cream that absorbs so quickly. Skin feels baby soft after application. Absolutely no soaping effect or greasy after feel. Perfect for the face and body, day or night. Especially well suited to sensitive baby skin.
