Method
● Weigh out the SCI chips and grind them to a fine powder in an electric coffee grinder. Make sure you wear a suitable face mask and do not breathe the dust in.
● Combine all Stage 1 ingredients in a stainless steel pan or bowl and place directly onto the hob on very low heat.
● Allow the heat to gently begin softening the ingredients. After a few minutes stir the mixture very gently to help the heat spread through the ingredients.
● The SCI Powder and emulsifiers can take quite a while to melt so have patience, stir gently every few minutes and watch that the mixture does not get too hot and burn.
● When the surfactants etc have become translucent remove from the heat and allow to cool a little before adding the Stage 2 ingredients.
● Although these are heat sensitive they will not be exposed to high heat for long so will be ok.
● Once the Stage 2 ingredients are fully combined, scoop the mixture into moulds press down to fill the moulds completely then place in the fridge to cool fully and set.
● When set, remove from the mould and allow to air harden for a few days before using. You can use the shampoo bar immediately if you wish but it will be softer and not as long lasting.
