Product Description
Product Description
Allantoin Powder is a natural compound produced by many living organisms, animals, plants, and bacteria. It’s a fine, white, odourless powder similar to flour. Allantoin is found in living organisms, animals, plants, and bacteria, and also in animal urea and plant sources such as comfrey. It’s known for its skin conditioning and skin-soothing properties.
This versatile ingredient is a common ingredient in cosmetic products and cosmetics, non-toxic and gentle. It gives a visibly smoother complexion and is suitable for a wide range of skin and hair care formulations.
Whether you’re making exfoliating cleansers, soothing lotions, or hydrating gels, Allantoin Powder helps to improve the overall look and feel of the skin by binding moisture and hydrating the skin. Allantoin is water soluble and should be dissolved in water to form a homogeneous mixture before adding to other ingredients. It’s used at low concentrations and very low concentrations in formulations to ensure safety and efficacy. Allantoin is heat-tolerant up to 60°C, making it easy to incorporate into many water-based formulas. Food-grade allantoin is also available for use in food and cosmetic applications.
How to use it
How to use it
- Use in formulations at 0.5 - 2%. It is water soluble and is heat tolerant up to 60°C; the heat helps it to dissolve better. It can be difficult to dissolve and may need to be crushed with the back of a spoon or mixed with a stick blender. It is important that it dissolves thoroughly; otherwise, the finished product will feel gritty. It is water soluble and therefore cannot be used in oil-only products.
It has a pH between 4 and 6, and so little is used that it should not affect any of the products you make. Store at room temperature in a dry and airtight container away from direct sunlight.
Skin Care
- It is a humectant that is moisturising as well, so add it to daily use creams, lotions, and gels. It also helps the skin hold onto water, keeping it better hydrated. This is excellent in creams, lotions, and serums for dry skin.
Consider using it in after-sun products as well, where it can help soothe damaged skin. It's also ideal to use in men's after-shave products where it will calm and soothe any irritation and help to lock moisture into the skin.
- As a skin soothing agent, Allantoin is a great choice in peeling AHA masks, where it will calm and protect the skin.
Excellent to use in deodorants for people with sensitive skin or after shaving the underarms.
- Add to foot creams for cracked heels. Its skin conditioning properties also make for a wonderfully soothing nappy rash cream.
Superb in facial toners and spritzes. Use in products containing tinctures to buffer the effect of the alcohol.
Hair Care
- Very soothing to use in sensitive shampoos and shampoos for dandruff. Excellent in hair conditioners for after the hair has been processed. An excellent ingredient to use in pre-conditioning hair packs is used before hair undergoes extreme processing.
