The tree has to be at least 30 years old before it starts to develop heartwood.

- My wife who is an aromatherapist has asked me to get her some Indian Sandalwood...... is this one the same?
- Thank you for your enquiry. Please see the below response from our Research and Development Team; "Indian Sandalwood is Mysore Sandalwood which is not the same as the two variations that we stock although the aroma is very similar and the properties are the same. Sandalwood Caledonian is perfect for skincare /cosmetic use but for the esoteric properties Mysore may be preferable however this is very expensive and often adulterated so be sure of your source. Our Sandalwood Caledonian is pure."
