About this product

Inci: Mentha Piperita Leaf Water

A hydrolat which is made by steam distillation of the tops of organic peppermint. Cooling to the skin. Mentally stimulating and aids concentration.

*Due to the natural batch variation, this product may be of a darker colouration than expected

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

A colourless to very pale yellow liquid with a strong peppermint aroma made by steam distillation of the tops of organic Mentha Piperita plants.
  • Use 1% to 20%. Do not use on babies or children under the age of 3. This Hydrolat may antidote homoeopathic remedies.
  • Water soluble so cannot be used in oil only products.
  • Heat stable so can be used in Stage 2 (water stage) when making creams and lotions.
  • This hydrolat has had no broad spectrum preservative added to its bottle, so please take care to not contaminate it during use.
Hydrolats are very prone to fungal contamination. Store them in the fridge if you can and never leave the tops off the bottles whilst you are working.
 
Peppermint Hydrolat blends well with Chamomile and Lavender Hydrolats to use on eczema prone skin or other irritated skin conditions.

HOW TO USE IT

Skin Care
  • Peppermint Hydrolat makes very tonifying facial masks if used as part of a facial mask blend.
  • It is also stimulating to use in a cleansing lotion as part of the water stage.
  • Use it diluted as a facial spritz to cool down in hot weather or if having hot flashes.
  • Peppermint Hydrolat is very soothing and is very popular in male grooming products
  • Use Peppermint Hydrolat as a natural air freshener by spraying into the room.
  • It is often used as a mouthwash to freshen the breath.
  • In hot weather, it is lovely to spray a little Peppermint Hydrolat on your bed sheets just before you go to bed.
 
Hair Care
  • Peppermint Hydrolat is wonderful to cool down and soothe an itchy scalp.
  • If you are unable to wash your hair for a while (such as with a new weave), it is excellent to freshen up your hair, especially if you have been in a smoky room.
