This recipe produces a soft, buttery lip balm that is ideally stored in small pots or aluminium jars. Essential oils that are recommended for lip balms are orange, lemon, mandarin, lime, grapefruit, lavender, spearmint or a small amount of peppermint. We use larger amounts of essential oils than would be expected for a leave-on product to compensate for heat evaporation. You can also personalise this recipe with aroma flavours and pearlescent colours. Stage 1: (heat until melted)65% Jojoba Oil 15% Beeswax10% Thistle Oil8% Cocoa ButterStage 2: (below 50°C)2% Essential Oils of your choice 100% Total Method: Heat all the Stage 1 (fat stage) ingredients in a double boiler until they are all melted. Remove from the heat and keep stirring as it cools down to approximately 40-50°C. Stir in the remaining ingredients and combine thoroughly.
