BUY ORGANIC
SUPPLIES
Many of these tips for a perfect home spa day explain how to make some fabulous homemade mixtures that are wonderful for your skin. Make sure the ingredients are organic wherever possible.
The best products for your skin are homemade from nature's unprocessed raw materials.
PICK SOULFUL MUSIC
Download an album of tranquil music, or perhaps something including jungle sounds, waves crashing or birdsong. This is bound to help you relax, just as you would in a spa.
SWITCH OFF
Turn off incoming messages on your mobile or put it on silent, unless you need it on for emergencies.
Leave your PC or laptop off and play music through a stereo.
BE UP TO DATE
Make sure you have no outstanding calls to make or work to do. Don't risk the chance of worrying there's something else you should be doing. Give yourself a few days preparation in the run-up to your spa day to make sure you have clean sheets on your bed, plenty of clean towels and a scrubbed bathroom.
RUN A BATH
The best way to relax is by running a nice, deep warm bath. Surround the bath with soy candles that are enhanced with essential oils. Great essential oils for candles and for adding to bathwater include relaxing lavender, chamomile or ylang-ylang. After you have bathed, take a shower to rinse with clean water and remove those toxins and bath water from your skin.
HAIR MASK
If you choose to wash your hair during your post-bath shower, you should give it a treatment after. A pampering natural hair care treatment will cost a fraction of the price of a salon-bought product and will be far better for your hair. An excellent choice is avocado oil which can get right into the follicles and really nourish your hair.
NATURAL CLEANSER
Before you start applying anything to your face, you need to fully cleanse it. Do this after the bath as part of the next step of your facial. Make an face cream cleanser using a natural Glycolic Acid exfoliant such as our AHA Natural Fruit Extract.
FACE MASK
Face masks are essential during a spa day. The best ones are homemade from natural clays, combined with natural hydrolates such as rose water or orange blossom water, and other active ingredients such as hyaluronic acid powder, vitamin c, or lupine peptides.
After cleaning the mask off, make sure you moisturise your face with a natural moisturiser or facial oil. Remember, oils should be the last step as they help to lock in all the goodness!
CALL IN THE PROFESSIONALS
If you can afford it, book a professional to visit for a real treat. If you feel like splashing out, hire a masseuse for an aromatherapy oil massage. If you want to spend a bit less, then find a mobile hairdresser to come and give you a trim or a mobile nail technician to give you a quick polish.
UNWIND
Once you've enjoyed your at-home spa day, keep the mood going by having a relaxing evening in with some candles. Read a good book, eat some wholesome organic food and have an early night.
Prepare to wake up fully rejuvenated.
